Seamly’s collage maker turns your photos into one picture in a couple of minutes. Add up to 20 photos and it draws layouts to fit them: tall frames for portraits, wide ones for landscapes, even grids for a big photo dump. Swap and zoom the photos, choose Instagram post, story, square, a 4×6 print or a 16:9 wallpaper, and download your collage as a full-size JPG. Everything happens in your browser, so your photos never leave your device, and there’s no account to make and no watermark on the result.
How to make a photo collage
- Add your photos. Choose up to 20 photos or drop them on the page. They open in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Pick a size and a layout. Choose Instagram post, story, square, a print or a wallpaper, then tap a layout. They are drawn for your photos, so tall photos get tall frames. Tap More layouts for new ones.
- Swap, move and zoom. Drag a photo onto another to swap them, drag it inside its frame to choose what shows, and pinch or use the slider to zoom. Add spacing and a background colour if you want borders.
- Download the collage. Download it as a full-size JPG, or on a phone save it straight to Photos. It has no watermark.
Collage sizes
Pick the size before you fine-tune the photos: a new size brings new layouts. Every size downloads at its full number of pixels.
| For | Shape | Size in pixels | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram post | 4:5 | 1080 × 1350 | The tallest feed post, and the shape most carousels use. |
| Profile grid | 3:4 | 1080 × 1440 | The shape of your profile grid’s tiles, so the collage isn’t cropped there. |
| Square | 1:1 | 1080 × 1080 | The classic post; also fits most profile pictures and messages. |
| Story | 9:16 | 1080 × 1920 | Fills the screen in stories and reels. Close to a phone wallpaper. |
| Carousel | 2 slides | 2160 × 1350 | One collage cut into two 1080 × 1350 slides that join up as people swipe. |
| Print, wide | 4×6 | 1800 × 1200 | A 6 × 4 inch print at 300 dpi, the usual photo-lab size. |
| Wallpaper | 16:9 | 1920 × 1080 | Laptop and TV wallpapers, slides and video covers. |
Printing it? The photo collage print maker adds 4×6 portrait, 5×7, 8×10 and A4 at 300 dpi. For a phone, tablet or 4K screen, use the collage wallpaper maker, and for equal frames in rows, the photo grid maker.
Layouts that fit your photos
Most collage makers give you a fixed set of grids and leave you to squeeze your photos in. Here the layouts are worked out for the photos you add: portrait photos get tall frames, landscapes get wide ones, and the best fits come first after the simple side-by-side and stacked ones. Tap More layouts for a fresh set as often as you like.
With ten to twenty photos you also get even grids, with rows as square as the shape allows, which suit a photo dump or a year in pictures. A photo you don’t like where it is can go anywhere: drag it onto another photo and the two swap.
A collage without borders, or with them
Collages start with no borders: the photos meet edge to edge, which looks clean in a feed. If you like a gap, move Spacing up. The space goes between the photos and around the edge, the corners soften a little as it grows, and you can make the background any colour.
Collage ideas
- Photo dump — A weekend or a month in ten or twenty photos, big ones first.
- Trip and holiday — Landscapes in the big frames, food and faces in the small ones.
- Family and couples — Birthdays, anniversaries, a year of the kids.
- Moodboard — Colours, outfits and places that go together.
- Film roll — Photos in a row with a film look, as if from one roll.
- Life moments — Graduation, a new home, a wedding, a first day.
Each one links to collage and carousel templates in that style, with words and stickers already placed.

Questions
Is this collage maker really free?
Yes. Making and downloading a collage here is free, with no sign-up and no watermark. Seamly Pro is only for extras in the Seamly editor and apps, such as Pro templates.
Do I need to sign up or install an app?
No. The collage maker runs in your browser on a computer, a phone or a tablet. If you’d rather work on your phone with your camera roll, there are also Seamly apps for iPhone, iPad and Android.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Your photos are opened and the collage is drawn by your own browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to Seamly or anyone else.
How many photos can I put in a collage?
Up to 20. With two to nine photos you get layouts drawn to fit each photo’s shape; with more, you also get even grids. For more photos than one picture can show, make a carousel instead.
What size should my collage be?
For an Instagram post, 4:5 (1080 × 1350 pixels). For stories, 9:16 (1080 × 1920). For a print, 4 × 6 (1800 × 1200, which is 300 dpi). For a laptop or TV wallpaper, 16:9 (1920 × 1080). The table above lists every size.
How do I make a collage without borders?
Leave Spacing at None, which is where it starts: the photos meet edge to edge. Move the slider to add space between them, and pick the colour that shows through.
Will my collage lose quality?
The collage is saved at the full size of the shape you pick, as a high-quality JPG. Start from your original photos rather than screenshots, and don’t zoom a small photo far into a big frame.
Can I add text, stickers or filters?
Not in this quick maker. Open the Seamly editor (free to start) or the app for text, stickers, filters, cutouts and hundreds of designed collage templates.
Can I make a photo collage on my iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, add photos from your library, and tap Save to Photos when you’re done. The Seamly app does the same with templates and more tools.
What’s the difference between a photo grid and a collage?
A grid puts every photo in a frame of the same size, in rows. A collage can mix big and small frames. The layouts here include both: tap through them, or tap More layouts.
Making one for Instagram? The Instagram collage maker covers posts, stories and carousels. For one design across several slides, see the seamless carousel maker.
Go further than a collage
In the Seamly editor you can put words, stickers, filters and cutouts on your collage, start from hundreds of designed templates, or spread it across a seamless carousel. It’s free to start in your browser, and there are apps for iPhone and Android.
Seamly is an app too
Make collages on your phone with the Seamly app for iPhone, iPad and Android: your photos straight from the camera roll, plus templates, text, stickers and filters. Projects you start in the browser can follow you to your phone.
